Which Tank Fittings Kit Do You Need? Basic, Alternative or Recommended

Basic, Alternative or Recommended: which FizzWizz tank fittings kit suits your bright tank, based on its thermowell and carbonation stone.

Every bright tank you connect to FizzWizz needs three things: a dedicated thermowell for the temperature sensor, a carbonation stone fitted with a check valve, and a connection at the CIP arm so FizzWizz can read head pressure. BrewWizz sells three tank fittings kits, priced per tank. Which one you need depends on what your tank already has.

Start with two questions

Decision chart: keeping your stone and having a dedicated thermowell lead to the Basic, Alternative or Recommended kit.

A “dedicated” thermowell means one the FizzWizz temperature sensor can have to itself, not the one your glycol controller uses. What Is a Thermowell explains why that matters.

Basic Tank Fittings Kit

For tanks that already have a thermowell you can dedicate to FizzWizz, and a stone you want to keep (brewwizz.com).

  • Stone Modification Kit: quarter-inch 90-degree NPT fitting, zero crack pressure check valve, isolation valve, and quick-connect coupler plug. Every existing stone needs this modification before it can be used with FizzWizz (why the check valve matters).
  • CIP Arm Base Fitting with Isolation Valve: a 1.5-inch tri-clamp connection with an isolation valve and quick-connect coupler plug, so the FizzWizz arm separator connects and disconnects easily. It’s how FizzWizz reads head pressure during carbonation and feeds CO2 in during packaging.

Alternative Tank Fittings Kit

For tanks without a dedicated thermowell, when you want to keep your existing stone (brewwizz.com). Everything in the Basic Kit, plus:

  • Sample Port Thermowell Adaptor: a 1.5-inch tri-clamp tee that fits at your sample port, with an integrated 1.5-inch tri-clamp thermowell and two clamps. It gives the temperature sensor its own well without modifying the tank.

Recommended Tank Fittings Kit

For tanks with no spare thermowell and no stone, or when you want to upgrade your stone (brewwizz.com). It’s built around the WizzStone-Combo:

  • 16-inch ceramic carbonation stone with 0.5 micron pores and a 15-inch porous section.
  • Built-in thermowell, positioned at the point where CO2 dissolves, so the temperature reading comes from where carbonation is happening.

Check your port before ordering. The WizzStone-Combo needs a full-size 1.5-inch port: its end cap is 34 mm (1.33 inches) in diameter. Some tanks have a reduced-size 1.5-inch tri-clamp on the stone port, and that won’t fit. BrewWizz makes fit the customer’s responsibility, so measure first or send us a photo.

BrewWizz also recommends its Ultrasonic Stone Cleaner to anyone using its ceramic stones (How to Properly Clean Your Carbonation Stone).

What every setup also needs

The kits cover the tank side. You’ll also need the FizzWizz itself, its CIP arm separator and hoses, and a CO2 supply through a regulator. For FizzWizz pricing, email [email protected].
